Top WWE Star Secretly Worked Backstage In NXT
A former champion has been working hard outside of the ring in WWE.
Pro wrestling history is littered with stars who couldn’t handle what happened when the cheers from the crowd faded, and they were no longer in demand. Whether that was due to injury or father time, pro wrestling retirement has proven to be a cruel mistress.
But one star determined not to fall into that trap is Bayley.
During an appearance on the Six Feet Under podcast with The Undertaker and Michelle McCool, Bayley was asked whether she had thought about joining WWE’s creative team when she retires. The star said that she didn’t know whether being in the writing room would work, but she could see herself becoming a coach.
Interestingly, she revealed she was recently “on the headset” during Raw, while she’s also produced matches in NXT.
“I don’t know creative-wise if I would be in the writer’s room or anything good like that. Maybe producing. I would enjoy that. This Monday, I sat for the girls’ match with the headset. I’ve done it a few times. I produced stuff in NXT. It’s very hard.
I don’t know if I’d be a good producer right now. I see myself more as a coach or, if I were to open a school. I know coaching is very different than producing. When I think about however long I’m going to be wrestling, there are still all the girls that I want to see them grow in their careers.
Roxanne (Perez), she’s 23, if I could be a producer and produce her match, that would be awesome. I have thought, ‘Maybe I should try to learn how to do that better,’ so I can be around and be part of it. Just wear another hat. I don’t know about creative-wise or in the writer’s room. That sounds scary.”
Bayley Reflects On Missing WWE WrestleMania
During the same interview, Bayley was asked about missing WrestleMania 41 after being advertised for a match alongside Lyra Valkyria.
In storyline, Bayley was attacked on the eve of the show and replaced in her match with Becky Lynch. On night two of the event, Lynch and Valkyria won the Women’s Tag Team Championship, although they lost the titles 24 hours later on Raw.
Bayley described being pulled from the show as “rough,” while highlighting how much effort had gone into her team with Valkyria.
