WWE Star Reveals What Changed About R-Truth Backstage After Return

R-Truth returned to loud cheers inside the Intuit Dome at Money in the Bank PLE.

The former United States Champion was released on June 1, shocking the WWE Universe. The subsequent RAW and SmackDown episodes even saw “We Want Truth” chants from the audience.

Wearing a black hooded t-shirt and face covered by a balaclava, Truth entered the ring during the John Cena/Paul Logan vs. Cody Rhodes/Jey Uso tag team match.

He immediately went after Cena, punching him to the forehead, and then hitting him with the Undisputed Championship belt.

Since his return, the 53-year-old has used the name Ron Killings and embraced a darker persona.

While speaking on the No Holds Barred podcast, locker room leader Natalya discussed R-Truth’s return, also revealing what else has changed him backstage.

It (Truth’s return) got me going, okay, where is this gonna go? Even just with Truth cutting off all of his hair. He was like, ‘I’m not playing. This is a new version of me.’

I feel like the chains are off. When I saw Truth walking through the hallway, I felt he had this different energy about him. He had this different confidence that, for me, as a talent, it was super-inspiring. [23:40 onwards]

R-Truth To Face John Cena On SmackDown

R-Truth attacked John Cena twice in one night on SmackDown.

The segment where Cena ranted to General Manager Nick Aldis backstage after the initial beatdown, showed that he did not see the attack coming.

Yet for some reason, Cena was later his cocky self, at one point looking down upon Jimmy Uso while in search of Killings. He then headed to the ring to call out Truth.

He was again attacked by Killings and put into the STF submission.

Later, Truth asked Aldis to set up a match between him and Cena, a request Aldis accepted.

This will be the first time that Killings meets John Cena in a match since the latter beat him at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
