WWE Star Refusing To Sacrifice Dignity For Fame

A top WWE star isn’t chasing fame.

Given that he’s still performing at the top of his game, it’s perhaps easy to forget that Finn Balor has been making his living inside the squared circle for more than two decades.

In that time the star has found success in Europe and Japan before becoming a World Champion in WWE. But through those years, Balor has worked hard to stay true to himself through not trying to find a shortcut to fame and fortune.

During a recent appearance on What’s The Story, Balor explained that he’s determined not to compromise on who he is to find success, even if that means he won’t hit the heights of others. Furthermore, when he retires, he said he won’t become a bitter veteran being negative about the next generation.

“I’m very aware that to make money in America, in this capitalist society, actually globally, is you have to say things that are controversial, so people react to it,” Balor said.

“I know that if I was to say controversial things that I would be more successful, I would be more popular, I would have more followers, I would have more money, I would have more fame. But I’m not willing to sacrifice my dignity and my integrity to talk s*** about people.

Why would I talk s*** about people? It’s just talking about negative things … it’s not gonna benefit me personally in any way. I’d rather just not mention them, that’s shade enough as is. When I retire, if I ever do interviews after that, I won’t be coming on and saying, ‘Haha, that lad’s s***,’ or ‘Haha, that lad can’t do this.'”

Finn Balor Staying With WWE

During the same interview, Finn Balor revealed he’s recently signed a new contract keeping him with WWE for another five years. Although the former World Champion admitted it was a “weird time” before he re-signed, and he was wondering whether it might be time to move on.

Balor signed with WWE in 2014 after an impressive run with New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
