WWE Star Pulled From Queen Of The Ring Tournament
Changes have been made to WWE Queen of the Ring.
Another injury has hit WWE, and Zelina Vega has been pulled from the Queen of the Ring tournament. Vega had been due to meet Shayna Baszler in the first round at a live event in Macon, Georgia, on May 12th. As confirmed by Adam Pearce, the star has been replaced by Maxxine Dupri. The winner of the match will go on to face Iyo Sky in the quarter-finals.
Elsewhere on the card, Rey Mysterio is scheduled to face Kofi Kingston. The winner of that match will meet Gunther.
You can find the announcement from Adam Pearce below.
“With that I have a bit of unfortunate injury news, Zelina Vega will not be medically cleared to compete tonight, and will therefore be stepping out of the Queen of the Ring tournament, which is unfortunate given her past history as a Queen of the Ring. It would have been nice to see her try and regain that crown, but the injury bug strikes again, which opens the door for one Maxxine Dupri who will receive the biggest opportunity of her young career as she will step in tonight against Shayna Baszler.”
WWE King And Queen Of The Ring Hit By Injury
The move comes after Drew McIntyre was pulled from the King of the Ring tournament ahead of Raw as he continues to recover from an elbow injury. His place was taken by Jey Uso who went on to defeat Finn Balor to advance to the quarter-finals.
Then, ahead of SmackDown, Nick Aldis announced that Bobby Lashley had also been ruled out of the tournament, again through injury. Lashley was replaced by Angelo Dawkins who lost out to Tama Tonga.
Asuka was also forced to pull out through injury.
The changes have only further highlighted the injury crisis chipping away at WWE with names such as CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Dominik Mysterio, Jimmy Uso, and Charlotte Flair all currently out of action.
