Despite the storyline involving Kurt Angle, one WWE star had no idea what was coming next.
In January 2017 it was announced that Kurt Angle would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, however, that quickly morphed into one more run in the ring before retirement.
After being inducted into the Hall of Fame, Angle appeared on Raw the next night, where he was made General Manager. A little over a month later, Corey Graves informed Angle of some “scandalous information” he’d received.
In July it was revealed that Angle had fathered a son while still in college, and the child was Jason Jordan.
During a recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show, the WWE Hall of Famer and Graves reminisced over the strange storyline. Graves revealed that he had no idea where the story was heading or what the big reveal was supposed to be.
“Kurt, if you handed me a million dollar right now, I wouldn’t be able to tell you what the hell the information ever was [Laughs]
They never told me. I don’t know what the payoff was ever going to be. I remember asking at the time, because it felt really random, and they said…Jason Jordan and I got hired at the same time. I took my medical exams in Pittsburgh, that’s when I met him, we were at UPMC for our pre-WWE medical screens and we’ve been fast friends ever since.
I think that was sort of the reasoning behind it. I just remember being like, I don’t know what this means, I don’t know where it’s going, but I get to work with my friend and Kurt Angle, this is going to be awesome, I don’t care, but I have no idea what the plan was. No clue.”
When Did Kurt Angle Last Wrestle In WWE?
Later that year Angle returned to the ring and continued to wrestle until being retired by Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35 in 2019. After his retirement, the star transitioned into a role backstage as a producer.
Speaking in October, Kurt Angle admitted he was “killing time” during this period, and didn’t enjoy his time in the role.
