WWE Star “Next In Line” For World Title Push

Triple H WWE Championship

Triple H could have his sights set on the next top star in the company with a new report suggesting a SmackDown talent could be in the world title picture very soon.

Cody Rhodes might have walked away from the men’s Royal Rumble match with the victory but one other man received a lot of attention following the bout. Gunther entered the match as the first entrant and broke the record for the longest time spent in a 30 man Rumble match at 71 minutes and 40 seconds.

WrestleVotes has noted that bigger things could be in line for Gunther with Triple H said to “love” the current Intercontinental Champion:

Triple H loves him. They all love him ever since he came into his own at Clash at the Castle. I’m not just talking about Triple H, Road Dogg is big on him, (WWE producer) Jason Jordan really likes him.

“Once WWE gets two World titles, you double the amount of people in the main event. Gunther is ready to step up. I expect by the summer to see him at the top of the card. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins a World title. He might be next in line.”

Gunther does not have an official opponent for his Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 39 so far but Drew McIntyre took an interest in the champion’s six-man tag team match on Friday Night SmackDown.
