What Top WWE Star Competed In Most Matches Of 2023?
One of the biggest stars in WWE wrestled in the most matches of 2023 while several other big names are near the top of the list.
Now that 2023 is behind us, the numbers are in to reveal what big name in World Wrestling Entertainment had the most matches over the past 365 days.
The name at the top of the list is a man who held the WWE Tag Team Titles briefly in 2023, Cody Rhodes. He is followed by former NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio and Seth “Freakin” Rollins, who has been the World Heavyweight Champion since May 2023.
Here’s the top ten list of wrestlers with the most matches (including television, PLE and live events) in 2023. Thanks to wrestlingnewsco for the information.
- Cody Rhodes – 113
- Dominik Mysterio – 106
- Seth Rollins – 105
- Damian Priest – 100
- Austin Theory – 98
- LA Knight – 98
- GUNTHER – 96
- Ludwig Kaiser – 95
- Sami Zayn – 94
- Finn Balor – 90
For Cody Rhodes, it was a comeback year since he missed the second half of 2022 due to a torn pectoral muscle. Cody returned to action in January to win the 2023 Royal Rumble and he headlined WrestleMania 39 Sunday against Roman Reigns.
In years past, wrestlers at the top of a list like this could reach 180 or even 200 matches, but WWE has cut back on live events. It was mentioned in December by TKO President Mark Shapiro that WWE was planning to cut back on live events.
If you are wondering about the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, he competed in 11 matches in 2023. Seven of those matches were televised and all of them were the main events of Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, WrestleMania 39, Night of Champions, Money in the Bank, SummerSlam and Crown Jewel.
WWE 2024 Calendar Begins With Day 1 Raw
The match count starts at zero to begin 2024 as WWE prepares for the Day 1 edition of Raw taking place in San Diego.
Seth “Freakin” Rollins will put the World Heavyweight Title on the line against Drew McIntyre, who has challenged Rollins in the past, so McIntyre is hoping that he can leave with the title this time.
Rhea Ripley will also defend the Women’s World Title against Ivy Nile.
There’s also a women’s grudge match with Becky Lynch facing against Nia Jax.
Also, the team of Natalya & Tegan Nox will face Shayna Bazler & Zoey Stark in tag team action.
