Current WWE Star Received “Mixed Messages” From Vince McMahon
A current WWE star has opened up about the sometimes confusing messaging they were given by Vince McMahon.
During Rusev’s first run in WWE – which was under the control of Vince McMahon – he was a Russian sympathiser, a controlling husband, a Bulgarian Brute, the leader of Rusev Day, and finally Bobby Lashley’s cuckold as The All Mighty one moved in on Lana.
Speaking on Identity Crisis, Rusev and his wife, CJ Perry – the former Lana – discussed how he was used in WWE, Perry noted:
In this world, Eastern Europeans and Russians are conditioned to be the bad guys. You [Rusev] have studied all the greatest bad guys and villains on TV and movies. You have really perfected that. That was his [Vince McMahon’s] way of complimenting and saying, ‘You’re the best at being a villain.’
Vince McMahon Needed A Favour From Rusev
Rusev then added that he felt Vince McMahon gave him mixed messages as he was switched between being a heel and a babyface in the company:
He called me in the office before the Goldberg thing. ‘Hey, do this favour for me. I’m going to owe you one. What do you think about turning babyface?’ I’m like, ‘Vince, if you’re behind it, I’m behind it because I know it’s going to work.’ He’s asked me to be babyface before, but then he’s asking me to be a heel again after. There is all these mixed messages with nothing in between. [h/t Fightful]
Elsewhere in the episode, Rusev explained what he wanted when he went out on dates during his separation from Perry.
