WWE Star Lashes Out At Terrible Name Change

In recent weeks, many have called WWE star Pete Dunne many things – angry, bitter, vengeful – but whatever you do, just don’t call him Butch.

Pete Dunne has not let the grass grow under his feet after his most recent tag team partner Tyler Bate was put on the shelf with an injury that will see him miss the rest of 2024. With the New Catch Republic on hold as a result, Dunne has sought to settle some old scores and start new issues on different WWE brands.

Dunne has targeted his old Brawling Brutes partner Sheamus on Raw, nailing the Irish star with his shillelagh and costing him his match with Bronson Reed. On NXT, however, Pete Dunne has set his sights on former NXT Champion Trick Williams and now on night one of The Great American Bash, Dunne gave an insight into his new attitude and hit out at being saddled with his “Butch” name on WWE’s main roster:

The first time in my life I turned to somebody for advice, I got stuck with a terrible nickname and a front-row seat to the Sheamus show. You’d be bitter too. Sheamus went home and Ridge ran when things got a little tough, Tyler’s laid up at home, resting up, they’re not like me.

WWE Stack Night 2 Of Great American Bash

Pete Dunne and Trick Williams will face each other on night two of NXT’s Great American Bash on August 6th. That show will also see Joe Hendry return to action in WWE after his concert was crashed.

NXT Champion Ethan Page will defend his title against Oro Mensah while Kelani Jordan puts the Women’s North American Title on the line against Tatum Paxley. The NXT Tag Team Championship will also be up for grabs as Axiom and Nathan Frazer take on the challenge of MSK.
