WWE Star Incredibly Sick Before Surprise Release

One former WWE star has revealed they became very ill before they were released from the company.

In November 2024, Baron Corbin was told his WWE career was over as his contract was not being renewed by the company. But he was not alone.

The company also let Indi Hartwell and Tegan Nox go from their contracts. Hartwell appeared on the same day’s SmackDown despite news of her release breaking while Nox had not been seen on TV since April of that year.

Nox returned to the ring for dark matches on SmackDown but it seems there was a reason for her absences after all.

Tegan Nox Ill Before WWE Release

Speaking to Metro, Tegan Nox revealed that before her exit from the company she became ill and was sent for a battery of tests at the hospital to get to the bottom of what was wrong:

I did get incredibly sick for a little while. We didn’t really get a legit answer. I went through tests, I was in hospital, a bunch of different stuff.

So I think it was down to a lot of stress mixed with other things. But I was really sick, which didn’t help with the time off. I think that started it all, even though I said, “I’m good to go, it’s just I get sick now and again”. But it wasn’t, like, deathly or anything.

Nox blamed miscommunication for leading to her extended absence from WWE as information was being passed between several different people:

I think it was a mix of them wanting to be safe, miscommunication with a lot of different people, because it was going from their doctors to outside doctors to hospitals. I think it just got lost in [translation] and stuff like that. But I think unnecessary time off started with a necessary time off, if that makes sense.

Under her non-WWE name Nixon Newell, the star will return to the ring in her native Wales for Attack Pro Wrestling in May where she will face TNA star Dani Luna.
