WWE Star Heartbroken By John Cena Title Win
One WWE star has admitted that John Cena’s final championship win has left them heartbroken.
When John Cena began the final year of his WWE career in 2025, he was tied with Ric Flair for most WWE Championship reigns, and he was not considered a Grand Slam Champion in the company, but both of those things have since been remedied.
Cena captured the WWE Championship from Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 to break the tie with Flair and become a 17-time WWE Champion. Rhodes reclaimed that title at SummerSlam, but as John Cena looked to his final few weeks as a WWE star, he surprised everyone when he defeated Dominik Mysterio on Raw in Boston to win the Intercontinental Title – the missing piece of the puzzle that now makes him a Grand Slam Champion.
And that win hurt Mysterio.
John Cena’s Title Win Broke Dominik Mysterio’s Heart
Speaking to the actor Nick Turturro on Prince St. Pizza’s “Delivering Happiness”, Dominik Mysterio explained how John Cena’s title win broke his heart:
It broke my heart. I wasn’t expecting his old ass to come out there and do what he did, but at the end of the day, I’m like 30 years younger than this dude. I’ve got to get my lick back before he leaves.
John Cena is actually only 20 years older than Mysterio, but despite the youngster’s harsh words, Cena has admitted he sees a lot of his younger self in the former Intercontinental Champion.
Mysterio will get the chance to get his lick back when he challenges Cena for the Intercontinental Title at Survivor Series in San Diego.
