WWE Star Fired Despite Still Being Injured

Triple H WWE

WWE released one NXT star despite them recovering from an injury.

In recent days, WWE has released several main event talents as well as a host of NXT Superstars. The cuts came right after the company let go a number of office staff, including the Senior Vice President, Creative Writing Operations, Christine Lubrano.

Among those let go was Riley Osbourne, who had formerly been part of Chase-U in NXT. The star has recently appeared on Evolve, but that was taped in advance.

In a post on social media, Osbourne wrote, “Can’t wait to get medically cleared at work… oh.” He followed up by confirming he underwent surgery on March 7 and still hadn’t been medically cleared to make a comeback at the time of his firing.

Why Did WWE Release Riley Osbourne?

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Riley Osbourne was released for non-wrestling reasons, although he didn’t elaborate further.

Riley Osborne’s really good and people didn’t really see it. They stopped using him after the Chase U thing was done. They didn’t really focus on him but I was told at house shows, he was excellent.

His situation was one of those where it had to do with non-wrestling things. There was some – not political, that’s not the right word – there were some things that happened with him and it kind of led to them taking him off television.

[…] He was not cut for talent.

Meanwhile, Gigi Dolin and Corda Jade hit back at reports that several WWE stars were fired for being lazy. The two women broke down how they had left no stone unturned when it came to training and staying in shape, commenting that they regularly trained outside of work.

Jade went on to claim that WWE’s strength and conditioning wasn’t good enough, and accused her bosses of body-shaming her.
