WWE Star Claims Faith In Triple H Was Behind New Contract

Triple H WWE

Triple H is the reason one WWE veteran stayed with the company.

During a new interview with Ariel Helwani, Natalya announced the release of her new memoir. The book, which features a foreword from The Rock, will hit shelves on October 28.

The star explained that she began working on the book in earnest after signing her latest WWE contract in July 2024. She added that putting the book together has been an exciting process, even if she’s scared to give fans a true insight into some of the more private areas of her life.

Natalya Gives Credit To Triple H

During the interview, Natalya was asked about why she decided to re-sign with WWE and whether she ever contemplated heading elsewhere. In response, the star explained that she was more than happy to stay with the company but needed freedom to do more.

“When I was figuring out what to do with my deal, my deal had come up. It was up at the end of June of last year. So I had this huge decision because I was coming out of a five-year deal. Of course, I’ve been in WWE signed and uninterrupted longer than any other woman in WWE history…

I think I was reaching a crossroad where I was like, okay, to be brutally honest, I have been screaming for change for myself for so long, and so I was at that crossroad where I was like, I need more, I want more, and the thing about being in WWE for as long as I’ve been there is that it’s very easy to get comfortable.

It’s very to go, ‘I drive a nice car and I live in a nice house and I sleep in a nice bed.’ For me, I don’t sleep well. I don’t sleep well because I’m so hungry. I’m so hungry for more. That’s why, one of the greatest luxuries I have in my life is having my own ring and being able to train there and having that outlet. So that is something that I expressed in re-signing is that I just want more.

A lot of times, you have to take a chance on yourself. You have to take a chance on yourself, and you have to do things that are risky. I would rather take a risk and fall on my ass than to do nothing. It is better to take a risk and have it fail than to do nothing.”

The former Women’s Champion added that she laid out what she wanted to management, and Triple H was immediately supportive.

“So I had expressed some of the things that I wanted to do with the powers that be. Triple H was great, he was extremely supportive, he was very understanding. It was nothing against the management that was before him. Because I’ve had an incredible career…

I’ve just very much needed change. I think change comes with stepping outside of your comfort zone, which is why, in the last month or so, you’ve seen that I’ve taken on [outside bookings],”

When asked why she decided to re-sign with WWE to work with other companies rather than stepping outside of that system, she said it came down to her faith in Triple H.

“I have a lot of faith in Triple H. I have a lot of faith in his ability to tell stories, and I’ve seen, just in the last year, the entire company is hotter than it’s ever been, ever. We’re hotter than the Attitude Era right now. Every show is big. It’s not just WrestleMania, it’s not just Royal Rumble. Every single show we’re doing is sold out. Every single show is big, and a lot of it has to do with the direction and how we’re telling stories.

Prior to this, this isn’t a dig at anyone by any means, but I would be thrown into a storyline that would just last a week or just thrown into a match or just thrown into this or thrown into that.”

Natalya will wrestle her first match outside of WWE and WWE developmental promotions since 2007 on April 17 when she makes her debut for Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport. A month later, she’ll then make her NWA debut with an appearance at the Crockett Cup event.
