WWE Star Will End Career Outside Of The Company

Another WWE star is ending their career in 2025.

It was recently revealed that Meiko Satomura will be retiring in April 2025. The Japanese legend has been with WWE since 2020 and worked as a coach as well as an on-screen talent in NXT and previously NXT UK.

Although she’s been part of WWE’s recent Japanese tour, Satomura previously hadn’t wrestled for the company since March 2023.

A new report from Fightful Select has given some more details on Satomura’s retirement plans, and what she’s been doing in recent months, Fightful noted that the veteran hasn’t been involved with NXT since her last match.

Talent in NXT felt that Satomura was looking to finish up her WWE contract, and a return to television wasn’t expected. In light of her impending retirement, there’s no word on whether she’ll appear on television, while a WrestleMania appearance is also doubtful.

Although she hasn’t been around for over a year, several talents were full of praise for Satomura’s coaching, especially those who worked with her in NXT UK.

Moving forward the belief is that Satomura will look to continue growing her own promotion, Sendai Girls, which launched in 2005. During her run toward retirement, the star is expected to remain in Japan, with a return to the States “unlikely,” but not impossible.

John Cena Close To Ending WWE Career

The confirmation from Satomura comes just weeks after John Cena announced his own retirement at Money In The Bank.

Although it initially appeared he was planning to retire at WrestleMania 41, Cena clarified that his retirement tour will last from January 2025 until December.

Since the announcement, WWE stars past and present have been lining up for one more shot at the veteran, with the likes of Bron Breakker, Rob Van Dam, and The Miz throwing their hats into the ring.

Cena signed with WWE in 2000 and made his main roster debut two years later on SmackDown.
