WWE Star Becomes Double Champion With TNA Title Win

Slammiversary was not a great night for TNA’s champions, with one star losing their gold to a current WWE title holder.

TNA has been in turmoil ever since WWE’s Trick Williams captured the TNA World Title from Joe Hendry. At Slammiversary, Williams put his title on the line in a three-way match against Hendry and Mike Santana. Many fans expected Santana to pick up the win in New York City, but that didn’t prove to be the case as Trick Williams stole the victory to keep the TNA title in NXT.

That result compounded a tough night for TNA after an earlier title match saw another WWE star claim the company’s gold.

Jacy Jayne Combines WWE NXT & TNA Gold

Slammiversary saw NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne take on TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich in a title vs. title match, ensuring one woman would leave with both belts.

Slamovich originally told her allies, Xia Brookside and Lei Ying Lee, she wanted to go it alone against Jayne, which gave the NXT star the advantage as she was accompanied by the rest of Fatal Influence. Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx intervened before Brookside and Lee came to Slamovich’s aid.

Slamovich looked to have the match won with the Snow Plow, but Jayne had accidentally taken out the referee, meaning she was able to recover. Jayne then hit the Rolling Encore to pin Slamovich and become the TNA Knockouts Champion.
