WWE Star Admits They Didn’t Care About John Cena’s Retirement
Not everyone was focused on John Cena.
On December 13, John Cena wrestled his last match in front of an emotionally charged crowd in Washington, D.C.
Unsurprisingly, on the night, Cena was a sentimental favourite, but despite support, he was defeated by Gunther. Throughout the hard-fought contest, Cena repeatedly battled back from the brink, but in the end, he was forced to submit while trapped in a sleeper hold.
Although it felt like the entire wrestling industry came to a standstill for Cena, it seems that wasn’t quite the case.
WWE Star Put Work Ahead Of John Cena
During a new fan Q&A recorded by Rock N Co Wrestling, Ethan Page was among the NXT stars asked about Cena’s goodbye. Rather than paying tribute to the veteran, Page said he was focused on working rather than celebrating.
“I didn’t really care. I will say this. I think I was the most John Cena yesterday during John Cena’s day because I was working while everyone was just out there celebrating. Yeah, I had a job to do, so I defended my championship. That’s kind of what I was focused on.”
Meanwhile, it’s been confirmed that Ethan Page will make the next defence of his North American Title against Moose. The TNA star made the challenge after confronting Page on the December 16 edition of NXT. The match will air on December 30.
