WWE Star Deletes Social Media After Death Threats

WWE logo over blurred NXT women's battle royal

A young WWE Superstar has walked away from social media.

Social media has continued to bring out the worst in a section of wrestling fans after a young star was on the end of a torrent of abuse through no fault of her own.

In a post on social media on February 5th NXT General Manager Ava called out fans who had been sending her death threats. The sickening comments came after Ava’s father The Rock returned to WWE on SmackDown.

Somehow things got worse and Ava has now deactivated her account on X altogether.

Ava signed with WWE in 2020 and began training at the Performance Center, before making her on-screen debut in NXT in October 2022. Although she began her career as a wrestler, the fourth-generation star has since become NXT General Manager.

The Rock Makes Unpopular WWE Return

The Rock made his most recent return to WWE television on the February 2nd episode of SmackDown, but not everyone was happy to see him. The Great One was introduced by Cody Rhodes who seemingly stepped aside to let the veteran take on Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.

This sparked something of a rebellion with “We Want Cody” trending on social media for days afterward.

On the February 5th episode of Raw, chants of “Rocky Sucks” rang out through the arena, while Michael Cole on commentary repeatedly reminded fans that no confirmation of a match between Rock and Roman Reigns has arrived.

Posting on social media after the show, Cody Rhodes pleaded with fans to trust him.
