Surprising WWE Star Could Cost CM Punk Night Of Champions Title Match

CM Punk WWE

CM Punk crossing paths one more time with the retiring John Cena was expected.

The moment is here now, as the industry veterans clash at Night of Champions PLE in Riyadh on June 28.

Cena opened the show at Phoenix this Monday night and reminded the audience about his retirement tour’s 19 remaining dates.

He also gloated about beating R-Truth, Cody Rhodes, and Randy Orton, saying he has beaten the “best.”

This prompted Punk to come out, who usually goes by the “Best in the World” moniker.

As the audience sang along to his “Cult of Personality” theme song, the former champion walked to the ring. He then challenged Cena for the title, a match that was later confirmed for Night of Champions.

CM Punk Could Face Betrayal From Beloved WWE Star

Despite being a strong contender to take the belt off Cena’s shoulder, CM Punk might not be that guy.

Professional wrestling personality Peter Rosenberg believes that Punk may face betrayal at the hands of Ron Killings at the Riyadh event.

While hosting his Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg podcast, he discussed the possible outcomes of the Cena vs. Punk match. He also predicted Cody Rhodes to ultimately win the championship from Cena.

The truth is Cody is the one who is seen as the future with a very good reason. So, it’s gonna end up being Cody’s story, which I have no problem with.

I would argue what I love about the Truth thing is it’s such a curveball. I’m gonna tell you one thing I wouldn’t hate. I wouldn’t hate R-Truth in the main event at Night of Champions taking out CM Punk and getting the DQ, and then you just see him staring down like, ‘Nah, this is mine. I’m getting this title.’ [From 52:09]

Killings’ return to WWE has been welcomed by fans. However, his career appears to be heading down a dark path, judging by the changes in his diction and mannerisms.
