WWE Star Controversially Wins Vacant NXT Title
There is a new champion in NXT as a title match ended in controversy with one WWE star laid out, who wasn’t even part of the bout.
At NXT Stand & Deliver, The Family faced DarkState in a six-man tag team match. DarkState was able to pick up the win after Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo betrayed Tony D’Angelo, nailing his boss with a low blow.
Stacks Lorenzo defeated D’Angelo when the two men went one-on-one at Battleground, but their bad blood has shown no signs of dying down anytime soon, and it took a fresh twist when a championship got involved.
Noam Dar is out of action with an injury that has led to WWE vacating the NXT Heritage Cup. Dar only returned to the ring in April after eleven months out of action, where he defeated Lexis King for the trophy.
Luca Crusifino claimed he was trying to show his loyalty to D’Angelo as he got a match made between The Don and Lorenzo for the Heritage Cup.
Stacks Lorenzo Claims First Singles WWE Title
On the June 24th edition of NXT, that match took place, and it was laced with controversy. Lorenzo and D’Angelo were level at one fall apiece heading into the final round when Luca Crusifino proved decisive. One of Lorenzo’s henchmen tried to use a spit bucket as a weapon, but Crusifino blocked it.
Crusifino inadvertently nailed D’Angelo with the bucket as he tried to disarm the thug. A Shining Wizard for Lorenzo then allowed him to pick up the win and the NXT Heritage Cup. After the match, D’Angelo decked Crusifino as their relationship looks to be shakier than ever.
