WWE Star Admits Losing Championship Was Heartbreaking

WWE star Chelsea Green

This WWE star sadly lost her Championship on the night that her husband returned to TV.

Chelsea Green has had two major WWE Women’s United States Championship runs, and the latest one that began in November 2025 ended on the first SmackDown episode of the new year after she lost the title to Giulia, whom she had originally won it from in November.

The night, although disappointing for Chelsea due to her title loss, was also a celebratory night for her for a different reason. Her real-life husband, Matt Cardona (Known previously in WWE as Zack Ryder), made his return to WWE on the same episode.

Chelsea is known to have injected some life into the Women’s United States title scene with her run as champion, and it was equally heartbreaking for both her and the fans to see her lose.

Chelsea Green Details Her Feelings About Losing WWE US Title On Same Night As Husband’s Return

Speaking to Sam Roberts on his podcast NotsamWrestling, Green explained the dichotomy of feelings she had on the night she lost the title

It was heartbreaking, truly heartbreaking [losing the title on the same night Matt Cardona returned to WWE].

Great moment for my husband, terrible moment for me. The dichotomy of that and just the internal struggle with, like, ‘Very happy for you in your moment,’ but also like, ‘Give me one second to shed a quick tear because I had the sh*t beat out of me.’

Chelsea Green praised Giulia for the win after admitting that “she got the sh*t beat out of her”. She has also put WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill on notice, saying that she could go for the top prize this year.
