WWE Star Recalls Pranking Bron Breakker Early In NXT Run
A current WWE main roster superstar had some fun with Bron Breakker by telling him another wrestler was legitimately crazy.
When Bron Breakker signed with WWE in February 2021 he was 23 years old coming off a successful run as a college football player that didn’t make it in the NFL. However, his pedigree was well known as the son of Rick Steiner and nephew of Scott Steiner. The Steiners have since been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Sometimes the children of legends look like they belong and other times they don’t belong. In Bron Breakker’s case, he has been proving he belongs for nearly two years as one of the biggest stars in NXT.
NXT rebranded to “NXT 2.0” in September 2021 the idea from Vince McMahon and others in leadership was to feature young talent that had potential on the main roster. Right away, Breakker was a main eventer in NXT and this was just nine months after he signed with WWE.
In January 2022, Bron Breakker won the NXT Title for the first time when he beat Tommaso Ciampa. In April 2022, Bron won the NXT Title again from Dolph Ziggler and held it for nearly one year (362 days). After losing the NXT Title to Carmelo Hayes at Stand & Deliver, Bron turned heel. Since then, he might be better than ever as recent performances against Seth “Freakin” Rollins and Ilja Dragunov have shown.
While appearing on The Undisputed Podcast with Bobby Fish, former NXT Champion Karrion Kross recalled pranking Bron Breakker by telling the rookie that Tommaso Ciampa was legitimately crazy.
“Tommaso right now is, he’s in a bulk, and I told him he looked awesome. I do remember shred king Tommaso in NXT. I’ve never told this story before, but you’ll appreciate this because you know Tommaso and how he is. When Bron Breakker got hired, he’s a good kid, and he was introducing himself to everybody.”
“I don’t know what he witnessed one morning, because I wasn’t there, but he came up to me, he’s like, ‘Yo, can I talk to you for a minute?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, of course, what do you need?’ He’s like, ‘Hey, this thing happened with Tommaso this morning and hey, is he f**king crazy?’ He just went from zero to a hundred and started yelling about all this f**king stuff. I just want to know what the deal is.’”
“Of course, I have to say this, I go, ‘Hey, man, listen. He is f**king crazy, and you should just stay away from him. Honestly, he’s a real f**ing loose cannon, and we’re not really sure what to do with him. We just all kind of stay away from Tommaso.’ He’s like, ‘Holy s**t.’ I was trying so hard to keep a straight face.”
As he continued, Karrion Kross recalled how Tommaso Ciampa reacted when Kross told him about this.
“I went to tell Tommasso, he’s cutting, and this is what happens when he cuts. I just went and told Tommasso. Tommaso’s reaction was the best. I have to talk to him in his ear because he’s in a trance, the Tommaso trance. He’s listening, but he’s looking somewhere else. I tell him the story, and at the end, he just looks at me and goes like this, [sighs], and just looks away.”
While Bron Breakker has had a very successful NXT run so far in his two years there, he may not be there much longer since he’s obviously a guy that WWE will want to build around on the main roster for many years to come.
