WWE Star Breaks Character To Make Hall Of Fame Plea

WWE Hall Of Famer Responds To Accusations That They Politicked Their Way To World Title

A WWE legend deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame.

After starting his career in 2017, Brian Pillman Jr. signed with AEW in 2019. Although he was originally a regular on television, as time passed he struggled to get a foothold in the company and left in July 2023 when his contract expired.

The star then made his way to WWE where he now competes under the name Lexis King.

In a post on social media, King addressed fans as Pillman Jr, commenting that it’s his goal to get his father inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Just speaking as Pillman Jr. here for a moment. This is all I ever wanted. My goal from day one in wrestling has always been to bring enough attention to the Pillman name, to remind us all of this legendary performer so that he could take his rightful spot in the hall of fame.

Brian Pillman Made Himself A Legend Before Joining WWE

Brian Pillman began his wrestling career in 1986 with Stampede Wrestling. After making his name in Canada, Pillman had a brief run with New Japan Pro-Wrestling before signing with WCW in 1989.

Known as Flyin’ Brian, the star was a huge hit with fans due to his unorthodox in-ring style which was more acrobatic and fast-paced than many of his contemporaries in North America at the time.

In early 1993, Pillman formed the Hollywood Blonds with a young “Stunning” Steve Austin, and the pair went on to win the World Tag Team Titles. However, it wasn’t until Pillman morphed into the “Loose Cannon” in late 1995 that he really etched his name into pro wrestling history.

As part of the new gimmick, Pillman became more and more erratic on television, once causing Bobby Heenan to swear on commentary after grabbing him during a segment. Meanwhile, he walked out of a match with Kevin Sullivan at SuperBrawl VI, addressing Sullivan as “booker man” as he left not-so-subtly hinting at his role backstage.

The following day, Pillman was ‘fired’ by WCW boss Eric Bischoff. However, Bischoff later claimed the pair agreed a deal that Pillman would go and compete in ECW, further enhance his character, and then return. During his absence, Pillman’s contract with WCW expired, and he began negotiating with WWE, sparking a bidding war. Ultimately, Pillman signed with WWE in June 1996.

Sadly for Pillman, he shattered his ankle before signing with WWE and this greatly impacted his work in the ring. But despite this, he still made a name for himself in WWE as part of the “Pillman’s Got a Gun” episode of Raw with old friend Steve Austin.

Brian Pillman sadly passed away on October 5th, 1997. The star was just 35 years old.

Back in February, it was announced that Brian Pillman’s estate had signed a Legends contract with WWE.
