WWE Star Blasts Waste Of Potential Randy Orton
A top WWE star has little time for Randy Orton.
At Bash In Berlin, Gunther will put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Randy Orton. Gunther is currently riding the crest of a huge wave having won the King of the Ring tournament before pinning Damian Priest to claim the World Title at SummerSlam.
However, that King of the Ring victory didn’t come without a slice of controversy. In the final, Gunther faced Orton, and the WWE legend’s shoulders appeared to be off the mat during the deciding pinfall. This later prompted Triple H to confirm that there would eventually be a rematch.
Speaking to Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald ahead of the rematch in Berlin, Gunther claimed Orton had wasted a lot of potential, despite his long list of in-ring achievements.
“I think Randy’s career is undeniable. On the other hand, we have to be honest here. He was destined to be the greatest of all time. All the bad decisions he made in his career and the issues he had, he still is one of the greatest, but he wasted a lot of potential.
I’m not in the business of wasting potential. I think I overexceeded in a lot of ways and Randy is the opposite. Even though he achieved a lot, I still think he underachieved for the talent that he has,”
Randy Orton Lays Out Retirement Plan
In recent years Orton has been reveling in his role as elder statesman and with the news that John Cena is retiring, questions have been raised about his own future. Both men debuted on the main roster in 2002 before going on to dominate the main event picture.
In a recent interview, Randy Orton said he plans to follow John Cena’s retirement blueprint and vowed to never return to the ring after hanging up his boots. The Viper added that his wife has promised to tell him when it’s time to retire.
