WWE Star Wants To Follow Batista’s Path In Hollywood
WWE star Titus O’Neil aspires to become a Hollywood star, much like Batista.
O’Neil joined WWE in 2009 and has been with the company ever since. He’s popular for his time with Darren Young as a tag team called Prime Time Players and winning the Tag Team title with him. For those who don’t know, he’s the inaugural 24/7 Champion, is recognized for his philanthropy, and is WWE’s Global Ambassador.
Titus O’Neil and Batista Had Similar Upbringings
Speaking to TMZ in a recent interview, O’Neil revealed that he’s focusing on Hollywood goals and hopes to follow Batista’s path, aiming to become a film star like his longtime friend.
“He is a brother to me. I just texted with him two days ago. He’s been overseas in London shooting a movie for the past several months, and he’ll be over there a little while longer. He told me he was coming home in a couple of weeks, so I’ll get a chance to see him and spend time with him then.”
“Everyone always asks me, because I want to go into this space of Hollywood, who I want to pattern my career after or take the most advice from, and it would be Dave simply because we have very similar upbringings.”
O’Neil also shared how deep his friendship with Batista runs and that The Animal is very close to his children as well.
“We were raised by single mothers, we genuinely have a love for people as a whole. He’s one of the most authentic people you’ll ever meet, and he’s consistent about it. Long before I became a WWE superstar, me and Dave were friends. Dave is an uncle to my children. They text with him. He bought my youngest son a Rolex as a graduation gift.”
“I say I want to pattern his route because he’s challenged himself to play such different characters in different films. He is an actor, a real actor, and not a character. I want to be viewed as an actor. I don’t want to be pigeonholed as the bodyguard or tough guy.”
“I want to be able to show range and tell stories. I know for a fact that I’m going to have that opportunity here coming up, but I want to have more opportunities to be not only what I believe I can be in the Hollywood space, but also continue to build this legacy and build a platform to help others in all the ways of life.”
