WWE Star Got Backstage Heat After Explosive Unscripted Promo
One WWE star’s brutal honesty caused a stir backstage.
In recent weeks and months, Karrion Kross has enjoyed a surge of popularity, and that moved into another gear in the days after WrestleMania 41.
On night two, Kross made a cameo as AJ Styles took on Logan Paul, and it’s fair to say he was less than thrilled about his minimal involvement. What followed was a series of comments taking aim at WWE, Paul, Styles, and just about everyone in his way.
In an expletive-laden rant mid-interview, Karrion Kross suggested his love of wrestling apparently “didn’t mean sh*t.” He then turned his attention to AJ Styles, whom he addressed as “Alan,” criticising him for “p*ssing away” what might be his last WrestleMania match.
Kross recalled being told to be a good soldier by Goldberg, but said that advice only got him released and overlooked. The star closed by telling the “guy with the suit and tie” to go f*ck themselves.
Karrion Kross Reveals WWE Reaction To Controversial Promo
During a new interview with Ariel Helwani, Kross reflected on the already infamous promo, revealing that he got a standing ovation the next day, while several talents thanked him for speaking up.
However, it seems not everyone was quite so enthused.
When asked whether he got any heat for his comments, Kross repeated “sort of” with a wry smile, before adding that “not everybody was thrilled about that.”
The former NXT Champion went on to say that he has no problem with Logan Paul specifically, despite sections of his outburst being aimed at the star. Kross explained that his issues lie with the company constantly looking to mainstream stars while overlooking their own talent.
“l’ll say this, I don’t have a problem with Logan Paul… What I have a problem with is this idea within the system to reward the mainstream archetype, like Logan, with certain types of liberties and privileges that could be delegated to the people that have pretty much dedicated their entire lives and are here full time.
We, the collective, the talent, the wrestlers, the performers, we can go viral too. I don’t want there to be this idea, this dependency that other people from other lanes are the only ones that can do that.”
Karrion Kross is yet to wrestle on the main roster since cutting his promo, and has just two Main Event matches to his name since WrestleMania weekend.
