A top WWE star was captured expressing their displeasure at the outcome of John Cena’s retirement match.

At Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, Cena faced Gunther in the final match of his wrestling career. Gunther, meanwhile, earned the right to challenge the 17-time world champion by winning the ‘Last Time Is Now’ tournament.

For most of the match, Cena found himself on the defensive, as The Ring General dominated proceedings after the bell rang.

The bout also witnessed several close falls for both superstars. Gunther wore down the former champion by hitting a series of chops and clotheslines every time the opportunity presented itself.

In the closing minutes, Gunther applied the Sleeper hold. The WWE fans at the Capital One Arena chanted, “Don’t give up” in unison, as he began to fade.

The referee lifted his arms thrice, but his hand stayed upright during the third count, the audience erupting into cheers.

The 38-year-old then struck a few heavy blows to Cena’s neck, like he had done to LA Knight in the final. He again applied the Sleeper.

This time around, Cena did not have the energy and he used his left arm to tap out. The arena went silent as soon as the bell rang, leaving everyone in attendance shocked.

Gunther celebrated and left the ring.

WWE Star Bayley Angry After Main Event Match Outcome

In a video now viral on the internet, former WWE women’s champion Bayley can be seen flailing her arms in frustration after the main event match ended.

Also seen beside Bayley is World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, as they both leave.

Many fans have expressed their displeasure at the match result, stating that John Cena should have retired with a victory under his belt.

After the bout, several executives, including Triple H, and many superstars came by the ringside to celebrate Cena.

Fans in the arena jeered every time the Chief Content Officer was on screen, letting him know their frustrations about the match result.
