WWE Star Almost Missed Major Elimination Chamber Match
WWE Elimination Chamber almost went off the rails just hours before the show began.
The 2024 edition of Elimination Chamber kicked off with a bang and the women’s chamber match. When all was said and done it was Becky Lynch who earned the win after hitting a Manhandle Slam on Liv Morgan. While the win booked Lynch a highly-anticipated WrestleMania showdown with Rhea Ripley, one of the biggest stories heading into the match centred around Raquel Rodriguez.
The former NXT Women’s Champion only returned to television on the February 19th episode of Raw after revealing she’d been diagnosed with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS).
After Elimination Chamber it was revealed that Rodriguez suffered a flare-up of her condition ahead of the match, but battled through to get in the ring.
Reporting on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Rodriguez came close to missing the event with her participation described as “touch and go.”
“It was touch and go. One of the things I mentioned yesterday with Garrett was things that could happen that were different. But it flared up.
They went through that whole match; they basically did a practice match in Australia, and she missed that. But she was able to do the match today. And you know, that’s so good for her. She got to do it. But yeah, she had a flare-up, I think, on the flight over.”
Raquel Rodriguez Thanks WWE Fans For Support
Posting on social media after the match, Raquel Rodriguez discussed the flare-up, commenting that although her Australian trip didn’t go as planned she still felt blessed to compete. Rodriguez went on to thank everyone who helped her make it to the ring.
Prior to her return on February 19th, Rodriguez had been out of action since early December.
