WWE Star Admits Love for Mercedes Mone
Mercedes Mone has fans across the wrestling landscape.
At Double or Nothing, Mercedes Mone moved one step closer to AEW domination as she won the Women’s Owen Hart Cup by beating Jamie Hayter. Crucially, the victory means she will now challenge “Timeless” Toni Storm for the Women’s World Championship at All In Texas.
While celebrating her victory, Mone yelled, “You Guys!” as she raised her newly won pink championship belt over her head. The line is a reference to WWE veteran Natalya.
The WWE star went on to share a photo of the pair on social media, writing, felt in the mood to post a little throwback 🩷🖤@MercedesVarnado” before adding:
I love my CEO❤️
Why Did Mercedes Mone Join AEW?
During the post-Double or Nothing press conference, Mercedes Mone admitted she signed with AEW so she could wrestle “Timeless” Toni Storm. The new number one contender to the Women’s World Championship said that she’s been keeping an eye on Storm since she was wrestling in Stardom, adding there’s a reason she’s become timeless in the eyes of fans.
Despite both women having careers spanning over a decade and having worked in WWE at the same time, they’ve only shared the ring on seven occasions, with just three of those matches coming on television.
Storm and Mone have never wrestled one-on-one, but they’ve teamed at Survivor Series twice and tagged to beat Charlotte Flair and Shotzi on SmackDown back in December 2021. The bout was Storm’s last televised match for the company.
