The WWE Spot That Left Kevin Owens Fearing For His Life
Kevin Owens has admitted that an “insane moment” during one of his matches made him think he could die.
After months of feuding in 2017, Owens and Shane McMahon agreed to put an end to their rivalry in a Falls Count Anywhere Hell in a Cell match. McMahon is well-known as a risk-taker in his matches, making at least one insane leap whenever he steps between the ropes.
This bout was no different, as Shane O’Mac climbed the 20ft structure and took to the skies, attempting to drive KO through an announce table. Luckily for Owens, Sami Zayn came to his rescue, pulling him off the table. After watching McMahon crash through it, he pulled Owens over the star to give his friend the victory.
On the latest episode of WWE Retrospective, KO admitted that he was scared he wouldn’t make it off the table in time.
“Then this insane moment where Sami has to pull me off before this giant man comes down from 40 feet high, or whatever it is. We were so scared that I wouldn’t get off the table in time, and all three of us just die. But it worked out, thankfully.
Owens is glad he took the chance but said working with McMahon was a rollercoaster of emotions.
You know, you take chances in life. This was one we took, and it worked. And in case you hadn’t noticed, working with Shane McMahon, it’s a blast, but it’s it’s intense, and it’s an experience. It’s very chaotic and fun, but also scary, just a whole gamut of emotions.”
Kevin Owens Told He Would Never Join Main WWE Roster
During another interview, Kevin Owens revealed that he was told he would never leave NXT. However, in less than a year he defied the predictions and was not only on Raw, but challenging John Cena, the face of the company at the time.
Since then, Kevin Owens has brought Stone Cold Steve Austin out of retirement, reigned as the Universal Champion, and captured multiple other championships, all while becoming one of the most popular stars in the company.
