WWE Spoils Upcoming Title Match
WWE have managed to spoil an upcoming title match that isn’t even taking place in the company.
24 years after Vince McMahon bought his competition and ended the Monday Night Wars with the purchase of WCW, WWE announced the acquisition of Mexican promotion AAA at WrestleMania 41. That news came just days after AEW announced their own debut in Mexico that will see them partner with their long-time allies, and AAA’s promotional rivals, CMLL.
Now WWE is making moves to cross-promote with AAA, as a Worlds Collide show will take place featuring stars from both companies on June 7. WWE has advertised that Chad Gable – as himself rather than as El Grande Americano – will face Vikingo on that show. But one detail has spoiled an upcoming title match.
WWE Spoils AAA Mega Championship Match
The bout between Gable and Vikingo is being advertised as an AAA Mega Championship match. That is despite neither man currently being the AAA Mega Champion.
That title is held by controversial star Alberto Del Rio, who is set to defend the gold against Vikingo on May 31 at the next AAA television taping. The advertising seems to confirm that Del Rio will be losing that match and the title.
Vikingo appeared on the May 26 edition of Raw, where he ended up getting involved in Chad Gable’s match to qualify for the Money In The Bank match.
