WWE Star Reveals How Seth Rollins Fooled Locker Room Backstage
Seth Rollins masterfully executed what has been dubbed the “ruse of the century” on August 2 at WWE SummerSlam 2025.
The Visionary was initially believed to be sidelined by a serious knee injury that he sustained during a match against LA Knight at Saturday Night’s Main Event. He had been convincingly selling the injury for weeks. Fans and even his backstage peers were fully persuaded as he was seen limping, using crutches, and wearing knee braces. Even videos of him struggling to move backstage circulated on social media, further cementing the belief that his injury was genuine.
Then, in a stunning twist just after CM Punk defeated The Ring General Gunther to win the World Heavyweight Championship, Seth Rollins shockingly appeared at SummerSlam’s night one main event on crutches. What seemed like a mere warning to Punk quickly escalated as Rollins discarded his crutches and knee braces, revealing that he had been feigning the injury all along. He charged the ring and cashed in his Money in the Bank contract, thus defeating the Second City Saint to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
Seth Rollins Is a Brilliant Actor
This elaborate stunt fooled not only the audience but the entire WWE locker room, showcasing Seth Rollins’ exceptional acting skills. WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton, appearing on Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast and praised Rollins’ performance, expressing her amazement at his convincing portrayal of the injury. She admitted she believed it was real and was genuinely impressed with his cash-in moment, calling it “sick” and applauding his ability to make it feel like a real shoot.
“I thought that cash-in was sick. What an actor… I thought it was a shoot, the whole time. He was limping around backstage… That was insane.” (31:49 onwards)
