Why WWE Scrapped Plans For Jade Cargill To Win Major Title

Jade Cargill in the ring on WWE Raw

Jade Cargill would have been a champion by now.

Ever since her WWE debut, Jade Cargill has been destined for success. While she has won tag team gold, she was slated to also win a singles championship, according to a report.

On Monday’s episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about Jade Cargill. The former AEW star was originally slated to win a singles title before her injury disrupted WWE’s long-term plans. She was reportedly on track to enter WrestleMania 41 as either the WWE Women’s or Women’s World Champion. Those plans were ultimately shelved due to her hiatus.

Now back in action, Cargill has advanced to the finals of the Queen Of The Ring tournament after defeating Roxanne Perez on RAW. She is set to face Asuka at Night of Champions this weekend, with a title shot at SummerSlam on the line. Meltzer believes her push is back on track and that Triple H has delayed, rather than scrapped, her rise. While The Empress Of Tomorrow is a formidable opponent, her current role is more about elevating new talent, making Meltzer believe that Cargill will be crowned the Queen Of The Ring this year.

Naomi And Jade Cargill Have Unfinished Business

In November last year, Jade Cargill was mysteriously attacked backstage and was replaced by Naomi. The former Women’s Champion replaced her in her tag team with Bianca Belair and defended the Tag Team Titles when required. At the Elimination Chamber PLE in March, Cargill returned and attacked Naomi, who later revealed that she was the one who took out Cargill.

The two female Superstars locked horns at WrestleMania 41, with Cargill coming out victorious. In another showdown for the Money In The Bank qualifying match, Naomi beat Cargill and Nia Jax to participate in the six-woman ladder match. Now, while Naomi holds the Money In The Bank briefcase, she plans to extend her rivalry with her former ally. It will be interesting to see their dynamics if the 33-year-old star goes on to win the top prize in WWE.
