WWE Scrapped Becky Lynch Pitch Involving Major Star

Becky Lynch WWE

WWE had multiple provisional plans for Becky Lynch.

With Bayley pulled from WrestleMania, her tag team partner, Lyra Valyria, needed a new friend. Step forward, Becky Lynch.

The Man hadn’t wrestled since May 27, 2024, but showed little ring rust as she stepped up to team with Valkyria against Women’s Tag Team Champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.

In the end, it was Lynch who got revenge on long-time rival Morgan as she and Valkyria claimed an emotional win and the Tag Team Title. However, that union was never meant to last.

Just 24 hours later, Becky Lynch brutally attacked her partner after they lost the gold back to Morgan and Rodriguez.

The reason for Lynch’s actions remain unknown but the timing might not be coincidental after her husband Seth Rollins aligned with Paul Heyman to screw Roman Reigns and CM Punk at WrestleMania. Lynch’s actions might also shine a light on who was really behind the attack on Bayley.

Alternative Pitch Made For Becky Lynch

According to a new report from PWInsider, there was a pitch for Lynch to team with Charlotte Flair upon her return to action. This would have seen the pair brought together around the time of the Royal Rumble before facing Iyo Sky and Asuka around WrestleMania.

Interestingly, that match can be seen written on a whiteboard in the trailer for the new documentary WWE Unreal, along with several others that were planned for WrestleMania. The new ten-part docuseries is promising to take fans inside WWE’s writer’s room for the first time ever.

Fightful Select noted that while the match wasn’t pitched to the talent themselves, a different match for Lynch was.

Charlotte Flair eventually returned to action at the Royal Rumble after missing the entirety of 2024 through a serious knee injury. Flair ultimately won the match before going on to challenge Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton at WrestleMania.

Despite a controversy-filled build-up, the match went off as planned as Stratton retained her title.
