WWE Announces Saturday Night’s Main Event Location In January 2025
The first Saturday Night’s Main Event event of 2025 will take place just one week before the WWE Royal Rumble.
When the WWE Smackdown brand moved to USA Network as part of a new agreement with NBC Universal, it also meant the return of the Saturday Night’s Main Event specials.
Those classic SNME shows took place in the 1980s and into the early 1990s at a time when the WWE product was hot while featuring the likes of Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior. There was a SNME rebirth in the mid-2000s as well.
The first WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event special on NBC as part of the new deal will be on December 14th when Cody Rhodes defends the WWE Title against his former friend, Kevin Owens.
As for the second WWE SNME special in this era, fans won’t have to take too long because WWE and NBC announced it will be on Saturday, January 25th in San Antonio, Texas, which is just one week before the Royal Rumble takes place on February 1st in Indianapolis.
The next Saturday Night’s Main Event primetime special will air live on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 8/7 C on NBC and simulcast on Peacock. The special will be held at Frost Bank Center – home of the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs – in San Antonio, Texas.
Tickets will go on sale Friday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT via Ticketmaster.com. Presale for Saturday Night’s Main Event tickets will begin Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT. Fans can register now to receive an exclusive presale offer by visiting https://www.wwe.com/saturday-nights-main-event-san-antonio-presale-registration.
Saturday Night’s Main Event Priority Passes are now available from On Location, giving fans the chance to be ringside for every exhilarating moment, including premium seating pre-show hospitality with WWE Superstar appearances, ringside photo opportunities and much more. This marks the second quarterly primetime special to air on NBC and Peacock as part of WWE’s new five-year domestic media rights partnership with NBCUniversal, which kicked off in September with the premiere of SmackDown on USA Network. The first Saturday Night’s Main Event takes place Saturday, Dec. 14, at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, N.Y.
NBC Chooses When WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Specials Will Be
It may seem strange to some fans that NBC is having the second Saturday Night’s Main Event special so close to the first one on December 14th, but that’s because it’s up to NBC. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer spoke about it by noting that NBC gets to decide when Saturday Night’s Main Event specials take place.
“It’s the Saturday before the Royal Rumble. So they’re going to be doing Saturday Night’s Main Events from 8 to 10 on NBC.
And it’s going to be four times a year, which was from the original release. And I guess the idea is one every quarter at some point during a three-month period. So that’s the date NBC wanted. And, you know, people are going like, Why would you do it right before, you know, have to promote that and the Royal Rumble at the same time?
And it’s like the deal is that when they get the date from NBC, that is the date they run. They do not run NBC. NBC is the one who makes the choice. They’re the higher power in this, in this one.”
