WWE Executive Says Sami Zayn Has “Always Been That Good”

Sami Zayn pins AJ Styles

Sami Zayn has been winning plaudits from all for his work with The Bloodline but a WWE executive says the star has always been top class albeit “taxing.”

Since Sami Zayn has gotten in league with Roman Reigns and The Bloodline, many onlookers believe that the star is showcasing his best work since joining WWE. And most of that is not from competing in the ring.

Speaking on his Oh You Didn’t Know podcast, WWE executive Road Dogg explained why he thinks Sami Zayn has always been as good as he is showing now but admits dealing with the star backstage can be more than a little hard work at times:

“Well, look, I’ll tell you what the great thing about Sami is, he’s always been that good, he always has been. He just didn’t have the opportunity to literally just [show it]. I mean, look what he’s done, and it’s not his work. I can’t even remember the last time he wrestled, and I wouldn’t care if I could, because it’s the backstages, it’s the interactions with The Usos in the ring. And that’s Sami, that’s what’s so great. That’s why they’re laughing through this crap, this is Sami.”

“But you cut from him doing that, acting that way, and he immediately goes right back to serious overthinking Sami, who says we could do that better, that could do that. Again, if I said this here, and you said, and he’s just a thinking man’s wrestler, and he’s always going [to be], and so Kevin’s the same way kinda. It can get very taxing, and I’ve heard it be told, like holy mackerel, you know, just like you’d get Steven Segal, you can get Sami Zayn.”

“A perfectionist, but not in a – I don’t know, he’s just tedious, he’s very tedious. And he wants to know, and that’s a good thing. Because you know, things can get lost in conversation. So you can’t just assume that the other guy understands. And so he wants to talk it out and talk it out he does. And that can be a little taxing at times. But, man, he’s a genius.”

“And isn’t there something about you know, genius is borderline psycho, I don’t mean that in a negative way either. Sami knows how much I love him. I hope he does. Anyway, if he hears this and is angry, I’ll tell him again how much I love him. But he’s just such a great guy, and he’s always been this talented. He’s just now really getting an opportunity to show it.”
