Did WWE Deal Ruin Megan Thee Stallion’s Collaboration With Mercedes Mone?

Megan Thee Stallion and Mercedes Mone

Mercedes Mone was in talks for a partnership with Megan Thee Stallion before WWE made a deal to use one of the star’s songs as SmackDown’s new theme.

On September 13th, WWE SmackDown returned to the USA Network with a new logo and a new theme. The track used to kick off the blue brand’s return to its old home was Neva Play by Grammy Award-winning hip hop star Megan Thee Stallion.

That news came as a surprise to some in AEW, where Mercedes Mone had been hoping for her own collaboration with Stallion. According to PWInsider, the TBS Champion met back in February at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Japan. The pair are said to be fans of each other, and the meeting opened the door for negotiations to do something together.

The talks reached a point where Mone was confident enough to publicly mention the idea of working with Stallion while promoting All In in the UK. The CEO even said she was hoping to get Stallion in the ring.

PWInsider noted that while the WWE “didn’t help,” it still remains to be seen whether Mone and Stallion will still work together.

Mercedes Mone Names Match That Stole The Show At AEW All Out

Mercedes Mone believes Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale “stole the show” at AEW All Out with their brutal Street Fight. Although Mone had “mixed emotions” about the violence seen throughout All Out, she praised Nightingale and Statlander for the greatest women’s Street Fight she has ever seen.
