WWE: Roster Shakeup Announced, New Details Revealed
Vince McMahon power-walked to the ring on Monday Night Raw in Orlando, Florida and announced that next week’s episodes of Raw and SmackDown will see the rosters of each show shaken up (in addition to naming Kurt Angle the new GM of Raw).
WWE has also revealed some new details on their website about how this will work, and to save you some time I have quoted the most interesting and important bit below:
The WWE Chairman will be granting both sides an opportunity to make trades, deals and other moves that they feel fit.
So it’s not a draft where the dueling GMs can steal talent from the other roster, but more of an opportunity for them to strike up hot deals with one another as in any traditional sport. Expect some good backstage promos between Kurt Angle and Shane McMahon, and let’s hope that if one of them ends with Kurt suplexing Shane through some glass, it goes off without a hitch this time.
Rob’s Hot-Take:
I’m less interested in how they shake up the rosters and more interested in what talent from Raw gets to go to SmackDown, which now isn’t just the land of opportunity, but the show that actually has a world championship to fight over. Unless Brock Lesnar proves me wrong and wrestles more than usual to defend that thing (however, even if he does, we all know it’s being kept warm an entire year for Roman Reigns anyway, which is another bummer), it really does seem like SmackDown is the place to shine. Also, hey Sami *nudge nudge*, do whatever you can to get your ginger ska ass onto the other brand so you actually have a shot at winning something of importance! I say that as a fan! I’m looking forward to both shows.
