Roman Reigns’ WWE SmackDown Return Announced

Roman Reigns is coming back on a big episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown.

The “Original” Tribal Chief Roman Reigns made his triumphant return after four months away at WWE SummerSlam in Cleveland. At that event, he made his way to ringside while receiving perhaps the loudest ovation of his career.

When Reigns got to the ring, he hit his cousin Solo Sikoa with a Superman Punch and a Spear during a chaotic Bloodline Rules Match for the WWE Championship. This allowed Cody Rhodes, the man who beat Reigns at WrestleMania 40, to finish off Solo with the Cross Rhodes for the win.

On the August 9th edition of WWE Smackdown, Reigns made his presence felt again with an attack on Solo and The Bloodline. Things didn’t go well a week later when Solo’s group including Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa beat up Reigns by putting him through the commentary table with a Powerbomb, which is something Reigns did many times in his career with The Shield.

Roman Reigns hasn’t been since on WWE television since the attack on August 16th, but his comeback has been announced.

The USA Network’s social media account announced that Reigns will return on the September 13th “Season Premiere” of Smackdown. It’s also the night that USA Network will start airing Smackdown after the five-year run on FOX ends with the September 6th episode.

Roman Reigns Enjoys The Challenge Of WWE Being A PG Product

While Roman Reigns may not have a busy schedule on-screen in WWE at certain times of the year, he is a busy man with a wife and five kids at home including a daughter and four young sons. During a recent Bloomberg event, Reigns spoke about the challenges of having a WWE PG product and the value of staying within those guidelines rather than changing what WWE is all about when Raw goes to Netflix in January 2025.

“If we allow Paul (Heyman) to do Hall of Fame speeches non-stop, we’ll definitely push that envelope but for me, I don’t know. I’ve always enjoyed the challenges of being P.G., and no offense to our predecessors and the people who came before us and the ratings that they revolved around.

But to me, it’s more challenging to be able to tell these stories and then it also allows you a broader audience to connect to, which I just really feel like is always the goal. We wanna reach as many people as possible and I think there’s a fine limit to when you can kind of cross that threshold to where you push people off from the product.

So, I think there’s gonna be a nice little range there that we can play with and push the envelope in certain senses but I think we need to stick to our values and kind of the morals we’ve set in place and the culture that we have now.”

In addition to that, Roman Reigns also responded to John Cena calling him the “greatest of all time” aka The GOAT in WWE history.
