WWE Reportedly Planning To Refresh SmackDown Roster

Triple H WWE Evolution

There could be changes for the WWE SmackDown brand.

The WWE SmackDown brand is seen as less interesting than its Monday Night Raw counterpart. Most WWE fans likely view Raw as a better show with a deeper roster.

While SmackDown has been the “B” show a lot of the last 25+ years because it was a taped wrestling show for most of its run, it was the “A” show during most of its five-year run on Fox, which was carried by Roman Reigns and The Bloodline story.

There was a recent report stating that WWE SmackDown would be undergoing some creative team changes to freshen it up. While WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg would remain the head writer on the blue brand, there might be changes underneath him. Paul “Triple H” Levesque is WWE’s Chief Content Officer, overseeing all content and making the final decisions.

WWE Could Bring Up NXT Wrestlers To Help SmackDown

It has been reported by WRKD Wrestling on Twitter/X that WWE is planning to call up some NXT wrestlers to help freshen up SmackDown. The source has reported on many things related to WWE in the past, but for now, it’s just a report.

Expect to see some call ups to the Smackdown roster sooner rather than later to fill some of the gaps left by recent injuries and to help freshen up the product.

One of those recent injuries is Jacob Fatu, the former US Champion, who is reportedly dealing with an injury that could sideline him well into 2026.

Regarding NXT, some of the male wrestlers ready for a main roster call-up include former NXT Champions Oba Femi and Trick Williams, along with veteran wrestlers like Tony D’Angelo and the NXT North American Champion, Ethan Page.

On the women’s side, wrestlers like Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley and Tatum Paxley are among a group that have been in NXT for more than three years, so it would seem like at some point they may be headed to the roster.
