WWE Making Repeat Plans For WrestleMania Main Event
It seems WWE is planning a very familiar main event for WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
Survivor Series saw the return of WarGames with two huge double-ring steel cage matches taking place. In the men’s match, Bron Breakker pinned CM Punk to pick up the win after a mystery figure entered the ring and delivered a vicious Stomp to Punk.
Reports had suggested that this match would offer the biggest tease yet as to the main event of WrestleMania 42, and it seems that it came after the bout itself was over.
Roman Reigns offered a hand to CM Punk to get to his feet, which was accepted, but the same offer was thrown back in Reigns’ face by WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. Reigns told Rhodes, “I’ll remember that,” as he walked away.
Rhodes and Reigns headlined WrestleMania 39 and 40 together as they battled over the WWE Championship, and it looks like it’s about to become a trilogy.
Cody Rhodes & Roman Reigns Headlining WWE WrestleMania Again?
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that right now WWE is planning to give fans a WrestleMania main event that they’ve seen not once, but twice before:
This whole thing, when we come out of this match, we’re supposed to know WrestleMania, which is Cody and Roamn and Punk and Bron Breakker are the championship matches.
That’s the plan as of today. It’s a rubber match, I don’t know. The deal is Breakker pinned CM Punk so he deserves a championship match, it’s old school booking. Did you see Cody and Roman at the end? It’s very clear.
The one thing this does not account for is who will win the men’s Royal Rumble, but it seems Roman Reigns or Bron Breakker could be the favourites to win that match to enable them to call their shot at WrestleMania.
