WWE Removes 3-Time Champion From Active Roster
A former champion in WWE is off the active roster, as some clarification has been revealed about what’s going on.
The duo of former United States Champion Austin Theory and Grayson Waller were a team that was together on both SmackDown and Raw for over a year. As a team, they were Tag Team Champions together.
In recent weeks, Waller has been bragging about how he got rid of Theory as Waller has been hanging out with The New Day. Meanwhile, fans have been wondering what happened to Theory.
It was initially reported by PWInsider that Theory’s name was removed from the company’s internal list of active performers. That set wrestling fans off because some people assumed that he might no longer be in the company.
What’s Really Going On With Austin Theory In WWE
Fightful Select has provided some clarity by noting that Theory “isn’t off the roster completely, instead he’s listed with the other injured talent like Zoey Stark and Ilja Dragunov.” What that means is that WWE has an active roster list and an injured list, so Theory is out with some undisclosed injury that has kept him on the sidelines.
The last time Austin Theory wrestled was on July 14th at the WWE Raw tapings when he competed in a Main Event match. However, he hasn’t appeared on TV since then.
There was a reference to Theory being injured during comments made by Waller, but there was no specific injury referenced.
Since Triple H took over as creative team leader three years ago, Theory has been used less frequently than when Vince McMahon was in charge. When McMahon was running the show, Theory was a two-time US Champion and a Money in the Bank winner who was considered a “chosen one ” of sorts for the former WWE boss.
During his association with McMahon, Theory also took what he believes was the best Stone Cold Stunner ever at WrestleMania.
Austin Theory is 28 years old and has a very bright future in WWE, so many fans are hoping to see him featured more often whenever he’s able to return to the ring.
