WWE Releases Now “Up In The Air”

NXT Stand & Deliver showcased some of the best talents on WWE’s developmental brand but for one established tag team, it could well have been their last stand in the company – or perhaps not.

At NXT Stand & Deliver, Carmelo Hayes captured the NXT Championship when he defeated Bron Breakker in the night’s main event. There was all change in the women’s division with Indi Hartwell climbing the ladder to become NXT Women’s Champion for the first time in her career.

The bout between The Schism and Chase U for control of Andre Chase’s university was unexpectedly moved to the pre-show and in the end, it was Chase U that won the day, saving the educational establishment for another day.

Two men involved in that match, however, could be on their way out of WWE as Fightful Select has reported that The Schism’s Jagger Reid and Rip Fowler have requested their release from the company. Dave Meltzer later appeared to confirm that Reid and Fowler had been granted their release but things might not be that simple for the English pair.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer followed up on his earlier report and says things might not be as straightforward for Fowler and Reid:

“That’s up in the air now. They were telling people that they got the release. I actually heard from someone this morning in WWE and it was, ‘Yeah, they’re gone’, and then later in the day, it was like, ‘I don’t think they got the release’.

“They told people they did, but I got the impression that it’s not necessarily the case, as far as getting the release. So we will have to wait and see for the next couple of days how this all plays out.

“But I don’t think ‘officially officially’. They may have, but it was kind of indicated to me that maybe it wasn’t as official as they thought and everyone down there thought.”

Jagger Reid – also known as James Drake – took to social media following the NXT event and seemed to indicate albeit cryptically that different things were on the horizon for the team.
