WWE Refused To Give World Champion Chance To Improve Mic Skills

Triple H WWE

A current world champion might be taking WWE by storm, but there was a time when they weren’t allowed to cut promos and get better on the mic.

The women of WWE would be wise to proceed with caution, as Women’s World Champion Naomi has hit new heights in the company. Naomi cashed in Money In The Bank at Evolution to shockingly steal the Women’s World Title from IYO SKY. SKY had been defending the title against Rhea Ripley at the time before the menace turned the bout into a triple threat match.

And on Raw, when Naomi let everyone know that she was now at the top of WWE, it all seemed so far away from her early days in the company.

Naomi Forbidden To Talk On A Mic By WWE

Speaking on Wrestling With Freddie, former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. reflected on Naomi’s growth in the company and revealed there was a time when they didn’t want her anywhere near a microphone:

I think she’s doing a great job with her promos; her acting is much, much stronger than it was back in the day. Everybody grows, right? But to see that kind of growth from someone like when I worked with her, they wouldn’t let her even get a chance to get any experience on the mic at all.

It was just like, nope, she’s young, she doesn’t get to talk, but too bad, so sad. To see her go from that to having the mic and the championship around her waist and talking sh*t to the crowd, talking sh*t to IYO, talking sh*t to Rhea.
