WWE Raw Moment Compared To Legendary Steve Austin Promo

Steve Austin

A WWE Raw star might have just had their Steve Austin moment.

Back in early August, Seth Rollins was left destroyed by Bronson Reed who hit him with six consecutive Tsunami splashes.

The assault was used as a way to write Rollins off television, and the former World Heavyweight Champion wouldn’t return until September 30th. With Rollins gone, Reed was established as a monster capable of dominating the Raw roster at will.

As the rivalry continued, it’s been announced that the pair will meet at Crown Jewel.

During an interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Reed recalled Triple H’s reaction to the moment and compared it to Steve Austin’s famous “3:16” promo upon winning the 1996 King of the Ring. The promo is often credited with kickstarting Austin’s WWE run after an underwhelming start to life with the company.

“It’s one of those things where in the moment you start to realize, oh, okay, this is more than just a regular segment of TV. I’ve attacked people before on TV, I’ve done similar things, but I could just tell by the way the crowd was reacting, and just the reactions I was getting in the arena, that when I got backstage it was going to be a similar thing.

I remember going through Gorilla and Hunter saying, like, ‘That moment is going to live forever’, like, you’re sort of set. I like to sort of liken it to Austin’s 3:16 line, like, hopefully the six Tsunamis will be something that now has changed the way I’m perceived and sets me on a bigger trajectory.”

Steve Austin Needs Surgery

Meanwhile, Steve Austin has revealed he needs a “new left knee” after struggling for several years. Austin explained that the problems go all the way back to his time in college football where he suffered a torn ACL.

At the time the star didn’t need surgery in order to fix the injury, although he later did go under the knife for treatment.

Steve Austin has repeatedly been linked with an appearance at WrestleMania 41, although the man himself has repeatedly stated he won’t be wrestling.
