WWE Rake In Staggering Sum For Survivor Series

WWE is raking in a hefty sum of money from holding Survivor Series in an MLB stadium for the first time ever.

Survivor Series is set to take place on Saturday, November 29, at Petco Park in San Diego, California, marking the first time WWE Survivor Series will be held at a Major League Baseball stadium.

This year marks the fourth consecutive edition of Survivor Series: WarGames, featuring both men’s and women’s WarGames matches, which has brought a whole new tradition to WWE’s annual November spectacular.

And it seems WWE is being very well compensated for taking Survivor Series to San Diego.

WWE Survivor Series A $5 Million Show

Wrestlenomics has reported that in June, the San Diego Tourism Marketing District (SDTMD) approved $650,000 in funds to help secure the event. However, it’s now been revealed that the event is actually being backed with a $5 million budget as WWE continues to demand hefty site fees for its events.

The San Diego Padres submitted a budget for the WWE event that includes $4.25 million in additional expenses, on top of the $650,000 from the SDTMD to cover the bid fee. Public records repeatedly refer to a total budget of $5 million regarding Survivor Series.

No confirmation for the sums of money involved has been provided by WWE, the SDTMD, or the San Diego Padres so far.

While $5 million is no mean sum of money, it does pale compared to the $7.125 million secured by WWE for the first two-night SummerSlam to take place in MetLife Stadium.
