WWE Figures Pushing For Changes To John Cena WrestleMania Match

John Cena

John Cena could get a new challenger at WrestleMania.

On February 4, it was reported that Roman Reigns is set to face CM Punk and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania. This represented an update on an earlier report that noted Reigns and Punk would meet in a singles match.

This was followed by another report that claimed Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena had been planned since October. The match would be set up by Cena winning the Elimination Chamber, and then chasing a 17th World Title win.

However, it seems that not everyone in WWE is on board with those plans.

Could WWE Change John Cena Plans

According to a new report from Wrestle Votes via SportsKeeda’s Backstage Pass Q&A, some people within WWE would prefer to see Punk added to the match between Cena and Rhodes, rather than a potential match between Reigns and Rollins.

“I don’t know if it’s been discussed in an official capacity, but I do know there are people there that would rather that match [Rhodes vs. Cena vs. Punk] than Reigns vs. Punk vs. Rollins if that matters at all. I don’t know, but I do know that there are some people who would prefer that.”

Meanwhile, it’s been reported that WWE is “re-evaluating” its WrestleMania plans for Drew McIntyre after significant fan backlash online. It’s believed McIntyre is currently slated for a match against Damian Priest at the event.
