WWE Plans For Brock Lesnar’s Return Revealed

Brock Lesnar could be back on television very soon.

At SummerSlam, Brock Lesnar made his stunning return to WWE to attack John Cena. The shocking moment came just minutes after Cena had lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes.

There had been plans for Lesnar to return as far back as the 2024 Royal Rumble, but they were dropped after he was named in Janel Grant’s sex trafficking lawsuit against Vince McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis. In the suit, it’s claimed that McMahon offered Lesnar sexual encounters with Grant in an effort to get him to sign a new contract.

It should be noted that although Lesnar is named in the suit, he isn’t a defendant.

As reported by Fightful Select, Lesnar is scheduled to travel to Chicago, where the September 5 episode of SmackDown is being held. Furthermore, he’s been “discussed as a possibility” for the show.

The report added that WWE is looking to load up the show as it continues to build to Wrestlepalooza.

Brock Lesnar To Take Out John Cena?

It’s been reported elsewhere that the taping could be John Cena’s final episode of SmackDown before he retires in December. While it’s only speculation, a return for Lesnar could see him once again take out Cena, helping him move away from the blue brand.

As noted by Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, Cena will be considered a Monday Night Raw talent moving forward.

Should the appearance on SmackDown be Cena’s last, it will mean that he made his first and final appearances on the show at the same venue.

Following SmackDown, Cena will have just seven dates remaining before retirement. The last two, including his retirement match, have yet to be announced.

In addition, it’s been reported that AJ Lee could make her WWE comeback on the September 5 edition of SmackDown. CM Punk has already been confirmed for the show.
