WWE Planning World Title Win For Highly-Rated Star
WWE is waiting to crown a first-time World Champion.
At Crown Jewel, Seth Rollins finally got his big win over Cody Rhodes, but that victory came at a cost.
During the match, Rollins suffered a major shoulder injury, which ultimately required surgery. On the following edition of Raw, Bron Breakker shockingly attacked Rollins to kick him out of The Vision.
After the show, it was reported that the breakup of the group was fast-tracked because of the injury to Rollins.
On the October 20 episode of Raw, Rollins was officially stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship, which meant that number one contender CM Punk needed a new opponent at Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1. As a result, a Battle Royal was set, which was ultimately won by Jey Uso.
However, the match didn’t include Bron Breakker or Bronson Reed after they were removed at the behest of Paul Heyman.
While the plot twist was greeted with frustration online, WWE seemingly had a good reason for the switch.
WWE Star Will Win Big, Just Not Yet
According to a new report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Breakker and Reed were pulled from the match because of the company’s longer-term plans for the former.
Breakker is “expected” to end up as World Champion, and WWE “has a plan of how and when to execute it.” It’s believed that, as Saturday Night’s Main Event will likely draw a relatively low audience, it made more sense to wait to crown Breakker champion.
As Breakker wouldn’t be winning the championship, it was felt that putting him into the Battle Royal only to get eliminated was unnecessary.
