WWE Planning Rusev Feud With Former Partner

Rusev made an exciting return to WWE on the RAW after WrestleMania 41, and set his sights on Alpha Academy’s Otis and Akira Tozawa. However, the wrestling juggernaut seems to be working towards an interesting angle for him.

Following his return, he has been in a feud with Otis and Tozawa, and has defeated Otis on the May 5, 2025 episode of Monday Night RAW.

Furthermore, he will enter the ring against Tozawa, and fans are expecting him to destroy the Alpha Academy member.

WWE has a pitch for Rusev against his real-life friend

Fans are always invested in witnessing two friends entering the ring as foes. This is the situation the wrestling juggernaut wants to explore with Rusev and Sheamus.

As per reports by PWInsider Elite, the creative team is looking into a program that includes the superstars in a singles feud. However, this is just a pitch at the moment, and nothing concrete has come of it yet.

The idea of the feud is to take advantage of their history to create new storylines. Both stalwarts are renowned for their extremely physical brawling style, which can be used to help the superstars re-establish themselves on WWE RAW.

Sheamus did have an interaction with Tozawa during a backstage segment on May 12, 2025 where he encouraged him for revenge against Rusev. Given that The Celtic Warrior has engaged in his feud, regardless of how insignificant or minimal it is, can be an indication that the company will move ahead with the storyline.

Sheamus is in a feud with Austin Theory and Grayson Waller since returning to the flagship show on May 5, 2025.
