WWE Planning “First Time Ever” Match For WrestleMania
The card for WWE WrestleMania 41 is coming together.
On the February 17 edition of Monday Night Raw, the line-ups for the men’s and women’s Elimination Chamber matches were finalised. With regard to the men’s match, this meant Finn Balor missed out after losing to Seth Rollins.
Rollins will now go on to face John Cena, CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, and Damian Priest on March 1 in Toronto. The bout is seen as the last chance for one big name to land a shot at Cody Rhodes at the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania.
But while Balor missed out on a World Title match at the event, he could still be in line for a major match-up.
It’s now been reported by Wrestle Votes on SportsKeeda’s Backstage Pass Q&A, that Balor could be set to face AJ Styles at WrestleMania. While the pair have squared off in the past, they’ve never met at the Showcase of the Immortals.
“I could see it [Dominik Mysterio vs. Balor]. I don’t think it will happen. You know, I’ve heard potentially AJ Styles, if it’s not Bron Breakker, for Finn in a singles match [for the] first-time ever at WrestleMania. So I do believe, as we reported last week, I do believe the undercard is still being worked on.
So, unfortunately, these talents fall into the WrestleMania undercard, so I think a lot of shuffling is still going on there.”
AJ Styles Defends WWE Hall Of Famer
It’s been announced that Road Dogg Brian James is now co-lead writer of SmackDown alongside John Swikata.
However, the appointment hasn’t gone down well with some online who doubt the veteran’s ability to improve the current product, citing his previous stint on the writing team through 2017. But despite the backlash, the WWE Hall of Famer has received a vote of confidence from AJ Styles.
In a post on social media, Styles was quick to place the blame for any of Road Dogg’s perceived failings in 2017 at Vince McMahon’s door. The star warned against judging the wrestler-turned-writer on his previous stint as he worked for someone who picked all of his ideas apart.
